Sweet potato is a very important food and nutrition security root crop in Zambia. Orange Fleshed Sweet Potatoes (OFSP) is the biofortified variety of sweet potato that contains high level of beta-carotene. When consumed by hans, it is converted to Vitamin A. It enhances nutrition, is a drought tolerant crop, and needless to say, it has potential to improve farmer’s income.

Market access:

Better access to domestic and international markets allows smallholder farmers to sell their products with better quality and at higher prices. This in turn encourages farmers to invest in their businesses and increase the quantity, quality, and diversity of the goods they produce.
