Resource-poor farmers in Zambia predominantly grow sweet potato; Orange Fleshed Sweet Potatoes (OFSP) in particular provides nutritional and health benefits, mainly for women and children under 5 years of age. OFSP contains an antioxidant called beta-carotene, which is very effective at raising blood levels of vitamin A.

Market access:

Better access to domestic and international markets allows smallholder farmers to sell their products with better quality and at higher prices. This in turn encourages farmers to invest in their businesses and increase the quantity, quality, and diversity of the goods they produce.
